May brings new virtual recreation programs to Vaughan

Registration is open for a wide range of virtual activities, playdates and parties
 
To help keep everyone engaged and safe while staying home, the City of Vaughan is offering new sessions of its virtual spring programming. Blossom into something new – from a distance – by joining the City’s biggest lineup of online activities.
 
There’s something fun for everyone! Choose from creative, culinary and performing arts to fitness and sports, science and technology, and leadership and life skills. Activities include:
 
  • Measure, mix and make healthy meals or baked delights 
  • Conduct science experiments using household ingredients 
  • Draw, paint, collage and sculpt  
  • Dance ballet and hip hop  
  • Increase athletic performance with sport and bodyweight exercises  
  • Take a jab at karate or boxercise 
  • Improve basketball scoring moves, outside shooting, footwork and game play 
  • Learn tips to manage money, write a resume and interview for a job
  • Plus, life skills courses and an educational series for individuals with special needs

All sessions run once a week for up to five weeks, for 45 minutes to one hour. Online registration is now available at vaughan.perfectmind.com. Virtual playdates and parties
 
By popular demand, the City’s Recreation Services department is expanding its virtual playdates and party offerings to include seven different themed options available seven days a week. Kids can enjoy some much-needed friend time, virtually. Children ages four to nine years old can enjoy spending time with their friends from the safety of their home.
 
Themes available include:
  • Cool and Crafty (ages four to six years old). Cost: $199 for 10 participants, including the host's child; $15 per additional participant.
  • Game on! (ages seven to nine years old). Cost: $149 for 10 participants, including the host's child; $10 per additional participant.
  • Hip Hop Hooray! (ages seven to nine years old). Cost: $149 for 10 participants, including the host's child; $10 per additional participant.
  • Like Royals (ages four to six years old). Cost: $149 for 10 participants, including the host's child; $10 per additional participant.
  • Li'l Ninjas (ages four to six years old). Cost: $149 for 10 participants, including the host's child; $10 per additional participant.
  • Open Canvas (ages seven to nine years old). Cost: $199 for 10 participants, including the host's child; $15 per additional participant.
  • STEM: It’s a Breeze (ages seven to nine years old). Cost: $199 for 10 participants, including the host's child; $15 per additional participant.
Note: Individually wrapped supply kits are included in the cost and will be made available to the host for curbside pickup at a local community centre.
