City of Vaughan
Lawford Park officially opens in Ward 3

Parks add life to a neighbourhood and are places for people to go to have fun, relax or be active. That’s why the City of Vaughan is committed to bettering the community by providing greenspaces for everyone to enjoy. As part of this, Lawford Park has recently opened for residents and visitors to take pleasure in everything it has to offer. This includes accessible junior and senior playgrounds, a soccer field, shade structure, accessible walking paths, seating areas and landscape planting.

As a growing city, creating spaces and places that families can experience and enjoy, and where they can create memories is vital to the health of the community. Parks are more than public spaces – they bring the people together and allow neighbours to become friends. Recreation plays an important role in residents’ lives. Places like Lawford Park offer people of all ages enhanced leisure opportunities and quality of life in as well as promote inclusivity among citizens of all abilities.

Members of Council joined the community to celebrate the official opening of the park in Ward 3 yesterday. The theme for the space is celebrating trees and the various regions in Canada. This is carried throughout the area with the planting of numerous native trees within separate clusters to represent the types found across the country.
