Vaughan celebrates National Public Works Week May 20 to 26
The City of Vaughan has more than 475 public works professionals that do important work that may not always be seen. From keeping parks and streets clean to making sure water is running and safe to drink, these people are the core of our community. To honour this profession, Vaughan is kicking off National Public Works Week today with a flag-raising ceremony at the Joint Operations Centre.
These remarkable men and women help keep the city operating smoothly and contribute to the high quality of life its residents enjoy. This annual event celebrates the efforts of public works staff all across the country.
The City will also be hosting an open house event on May 26 at the Joint Operations Centre located at 2800 Rutherford Rd. from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. – rain or shine. There will be live entertainment, a bike rodeo, face painting and booths highlighting the services the City provides. Residents are invited to participate. Bring bikes for repair, used clothing to donate to charity, old electronics for recycling and documents for secure shredding. There will prizes, raffles and free mulch for giveaway.
