Residents invited to officially open the park with Mayor and Council on June 25

The entire community is invited to join Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua and Members of Council at the official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly expanded Agostino Park.

The event will be held rain or shine on Tuesday, June 25 at 7 p.m. and will feature free ice cream and face painting for kids. Parking is available onsite at 535 Confederation Pky.

Located in Ward 4 in the Carrville community, Agostino Park’s two-hectare (five-acre) expansion includes a senior soccer field, a parking lot and a new walkway connection to the playground. In total, the expanded park is 4.2 hectares (10.4 acres) and also includes a basketball court and mini soccer field.

The project to expand the original park included acquiring land from the York Catholic District School Board in 2011. A public open house was held in the summer of 2014 to get feedback from the community and construction began in late summer 2017.

This park project is consistent with Council’s priorities to promote active, safe and diverse communities as well as environmental stewardship, which are outlined in the 2018-2022 Term of Council Service Excellence Strategic Plan.
