City Takes Active Living Campaign To Vaughan Mills Mall

City of Vaughan staff will be reaching out to the community to encourage residents to adopt healthier lifestyles by taking the City’s Active Living Campaign to Vaughan Mills Mall on Friday, June 8 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Timed to coincide with York Region school boards’ Professional Activity Day, City staff will have a kiosk located in the Small Towns Neighbourhood 4, across from Athlete’s World, where they will distribute literature about recreation programs and free passes for activities at Vaughan community centres from June to December. There will be special giveaways and residents will have the opportunity to ask City staff questions about recreation programs and how to register.

The Active Living Campaign aims to increase awareness of the many City-operated programs and services available to residents of all ages and abilities at recreation facilities across Vaughan. This includes registered general programs in creative, culinary, performing and education/language arts, health and wellness, science and technology, and sports. As well as swimming lessons, before and after school, school break and summer day camp programs are offered. There are pay-as-you-go and membership options for aquafitness, swimming, sports, skating, shinny hockey and fitness.

The Active Living Campaign supports the City’s Active Together Physical Activity Strategy, a component of Vaughan’s 10-year Active Together Master Plan for the provision of parks, recreation, culture and library facilities and services. Launched in 2009, the goals of Active Together are to increase the physical activity levels of Vaughan residents by 10 per cent by the year 2020.
