​City of Vaughan Collects Thousands of Toys for Fifth Annual Toy Drive

The holiday wishes of thousands of children will come true this week thanks to the generosity of Vaughan residents. Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua and Members of Council are thanking residents, businesses, schools and City staff for their donations to the City of Vaughan Toy Drive in support of the CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish program. The fifth annual City of Vaughan Toy Drive wrapped up with more than 10,000 toys collected.

The CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish is one of the largest distributors of toys in the Greater Toronto Area. The program was established in 1966 to assist children in need and children’s charities, and has grown to also include financial assistance for families. In 2013, the Wish program supported approximately 300,000 people across the GTA through toys and financial assistance.

QUICK FACTS
  • Fifth annual toy drive began with an official launch on Nov. 17 at St. Agnes of Assisi Catholic Elementary School, with students and staff from Guardian Angels Catholic Elementary School
  • Community was invited to drop off new, unwrapped toys for children aged newborn to 18 years at locations across the City
  • Since the City of Vaughan Toy Drive began, more than 30,000 toys have been collected
  • This was the 48th annual CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish
