Woodbridge Avenue improvements

Good news, Vaughan: Woodbridge Avenue is open!

Through the City of Vaughan’s Woodbridge Avenue Improvements and Streetscaping Project, important infrastructure enhancements along Woodbridge Avenue (from Kipling Avenue to Islington Avenue) have been completed. Residents, businesses and visitors to the area will now experience a more livable, vibrant, sustainable and people-friendly main street. Visit the new and improved Woodbridge Avenue today!

Woodbridge Avenue is a commercial and residential street located in the heart of Woodbridge Village. The Woodbridge Avenue corridor and surrounding area have rapidly changed in the last decade with high-density development, including residential and mixed-use buildings, resulting in a larger urbanized area. The Woodbridge Avenue Streetscape Plan (PDF) was completed in 2017 to address this growth and ensure the design of Woodbridge Avenue continues to be safe, accessible, inviting and timeless.

With help from the Government of Canada, through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), the City received more than $2 million to help complete five city building projects in Vaughan. This includes streetscaping along Woodbridge Avenue and improving infrastructure between Islington Avenue and Kipling Avenue.

The renewed streetscape now promotes walking, cycling and transit use, increases safety between pedestrians and vehicles, supports daily community life and events, captures inspirational, educational and heritage elements, and provides convenient access to trails and open space.

Extensive infrastructure work completed includes road rehabilitation, watermain replacements, sanitary sewer upgrades, streetlighting improvements, traffic signal additions, bridge improvements, parking lay-bys (designated paved parking areas), and streetscape and landscape enhancements.

These improvements will now support current and future residents and businesses in Woodbridge Village for years to come. For more information, visit vaughan.ca/WoodbridgeAve
