Deal on hospital reached

Mayor announces Council and VHCC work to make Vaughan hospital a reality

The City of Vaughan and the Vaughan Health Campus of Care (VHCC) have executed an agreement that allows the construction of Vaughan's new hospital to move forward.

This agreement will allow the process to begin to receive proposals for construction of the new hospital.

Last month the City and Mackenzie Health signed a 99-year lease for the Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital land. This agreement gives Mackenzie Health access to the land to build and operate the hospital.

QUOTES

"This Council recognizes that the efforts of the Vaughan Health Campus of Care have been instrumental in advancing the goal of a new hospital and healthcare services for our community. We can now work together to provide the services that the people of this City deserve. Building a hospital is about people - it's about investing in people's health and ensuring that we all have access to the very best healthcare services available."
-Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua

"For more than a decade, the Vaughan Health Campus of Care has been dedicated to bringing a hospital and ancillary healthcare services to the City of Vaughan. I would like to personally thank our board member volunteers, who have worked tirelessly over the years to bring this hospital to Vaughan and have raised more than $8 million for the construction of the hospital. We look forward to our hospital finally being built as quickly as possible, along with the much needed ancillary healthcare services complementing the hospital."
-Michael DeGasperis, Chair, VHCC
