Did you have your say, Vaughan?

Take the engagement feedback survey to tell us about your experience

Did you participate in an engagement activity with the City of Vaughan in 2021? Maybe you completed a survey, placed a pin on an interactive map or attended a virtual open house. If so, we want your feedback!

In 2021, nearly 50 city-building engagement campaigns were delivered to inform and involve citizens in projects around the community. In response, more than 7,170 people participated by completing surveys, attending open houses or providing comments online in the City’s online engagement platform – this feedback helps build the city and inform municipal decisions. As engagement opportunities continue, the City has launched an Engagement Feedback Survey to collect input on Vaughan’s engagement practices – what project did you get involved in? How did you participate? How was your experience? Were you informed? Did you feel listened to? Complete the online survey to provide input into how we can make our engagement process even better.

The survey will be open throughout 2022 and can be accessed through vaughan.ca/HaveYourSay.

The feedback collected from the survey is anonymous and will be analyzed on an ongoing basis. Results from the survey will:
  • Ensure those who live, work and play in Vaughan continue to meaningfully engage in Vaughan’s city-building process.
  • Help inform future engagement strategies to reach and solicit input from Vaughan’s diverse citizens, businesses and stakeholders.
  • Gauge the success of the Have Your Say platform, as well as other engagement methods used by City staff, helping to understand if these methods and tools resonate with the Vaughan community.
  • Support ongoing evaluation and benchmarking of the City’s engagement policy, framework and practices.

Learn more about Vaughan’s Stakeholder and Community Engagement Policy
Last year, Council adopted the Stakeholder and Community Engagement Policy (PDF), and a framework for planning and executing engagement processes at the City of Vaughan. This policy is a formal commitment to involving citizens, businesses and stakeholders in crucial conversations that will help shape the city they know and love. It also offers a directional process based on internationally recognized standards, best practices and methodologies in citizen engagement. Watch this video to learn more about the strategy.

Vaughan’s online engagement platform: Have Your Say
Closely following the adoption of Vaughan’s Stakeholder and Community Engagement Policy, the City launched Have Your Say, Vaughan – an online citizen engagement platform that provides an easy, secure and convenient way for the public to participate in, learn about, engage with and give honest feedback about City engagements in an accessible, virtual environment. Have Your Say expands the City’s ability to conduct digital engagement, allowing the community to participate at a time and in a place that works best for them.

In 2021, the City’s engagement pages – including the Have Your Say platform – received almost 23,000 views. Through those engagement pages, the City invited citizens to learn about important city-building projects and join the conversation. In total, the City delivered approximately 54 presentations, both live and on-demand, hosted 42 live virtual meetings and engaged citizens through roughly 40 surveys, virtual idea boards, interactive maps and online comment forums. The surveys alone have collected more than 5,100 responses. These numbers continue to grow!
