Do you live in the Thornhill Heritage Conservation District?
You’re invited to an Open House on Feb. 12 to learn about our plan for the area
As the city of Vaughan continues to grow, we’re creating new plans and updating policies to help manage and guide future development. This includes the Thornhill Heritage Conservation District – and you can have a say!
The Thornhill Heritage Conservation District was established in 1984 to protect the community’s heritage resources and provide guidelines to manage change, such as new developments. The district includes properties on the west and east sides of Yonge Street, south of the intersection of Arnold Avenue and Yonge Street, and north towards Thornhill Avenue.
We’re updating the Thornhill Heritage Conservation District Plan to meet legislative requirements under the Ontario Heritage Act and other policy updates. Once complete, the plan will act as a guide for future development in the area, while also continuing to preserve it. It will outline how development can proceed, types of preservation that can occur within the district and more.
Get involved!
Have ideas on how the area can be preserved while it continues to grow? What does the community need now and in the future? Could new developments help improve the area?
You’re invited to an Open House on Wednesday, Feb. 12 at the Garnet A. Williams Community Centre (501 Clark Ave W.) to get involved! Drop by anytime from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. to learn more about how we’re updating the plan and what it will do for the community, share your vision for the future of the area, hear how this plan may impact you and your property, and more. Staff will be available to answer any questions you may have, in addition to sharing boundary maps and informative materials.
Can’t attend in person? You can still have a say! Following the Open House, materials will be available online at vaughan.ca/ThornhillHeritage. You can submit feedback through an online survey until Wednesday, Feb. 26.
