The City of Vaughan’s current municipal waste collection contract is nearing its end, which means we’re actively preparing for the next 10-year contract, launching in 2028 – and we want to hear from you!

The waste collection contract helps determine the scope of waste services, the collection schedules, what can and can’t be collected, the equipment and personnel needed, and much more.

Your feedback is crucial for shaping the future of waste in Vaughan. Get involved and have your say in any of the following ways:

1. Read the participation guide

We have a comprehensive participation guide (PDF) that includes insights into the waste collection contract's significance, information about key topics and issues that are open for discussion, an outline of the consultation timelines and more.

2. Complete an online survey

An online survey will be available until Friday, Dec. 1. It should take approximately 10 to 20 minutes to complete.

We welcome your comments on a number of key topics and issues, including:

  • your satisfaction with current solid waste service levels and programs.
  • whether the City should expand or scale back certain programs.
  • how you access important waste-related information.

3. Answer a telephone survey

Starting Monday, Oct. 2, Forum Research will conduct 500 random telephone surveys among Vaughan residents on behalf of the City. If you are randomly selected, you’re encouraged to participate in this important questionnaire, as public input is a key driver for municipal decision-making.

The calls will be placed between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. Monday to Friday and between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on weekends. It will take between five to eight minutes to complete the phone survey.

4. Join a live discussion

You’re invited to be part of dynamic live discussions focused on several important topics:

5. Join a focus group

The City will host two open-invitation focus groups with members of the public (one virtual and one in-person) to understand your perspectives on several waste-related topics.

6. Visit an open house

The City will host five open houses across Vaughan, one in each ward. Stop by and speak with a member of the Solid Waste Management team to learn more about the next decade of waste collection in Vaughan.

Check back later at the waste collection contract webpage for details on how you can participate in the focus groups and open houses.
