Doors Open Vaughan and Culture Days

The 2011 Doors Open Vaughan and Culture Days events will feature 30 locations which will open their doors for free tours, exhibits and performances. The events will run from September 30 to October 2, 2011. Visitors will discover sites with historical, architectural, cultural and environmental significance.
 
Art exhibits will be featured across the City and those attending can take part in free art and theatre classes. Performances and crafts will be presented by Vaughan’s Russian, Chinese, Latin American, Caribbean and South Asian communities. Tour sites include Vaughan City Hall, the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, the Kortright Centre for Conservation and Magnotta Winery.
 
The Vaughan Business Enterprise Centre will offer visitors free business advice. Environmental studies students will provide guided tours of the Toronto District Christian High School, one of the greenest schools in Ontario. Holy Trinity Church, the Toronto Waldorf School and the J.E.H. MacDonald House will also open their doors to visitors. As well, the Kipling Gallery will showcase its collection of  original fine art.
 
Doors Open Vaughan takes place October 1 and 2 with most sites open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Culture Days, a federal program, will be celebrated across Canada from September 30 to October 2.  Both programs aim to promote history, arts and culture in local communities.
