Vaughan’s new event series offers free live music in Transit Square

The City of Vaughan is introducing a new live music series this summer. Music in the Square is a free cultural music event taking place in the heart of the city’s emerging downtown – the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Transit Square, located at 100 New Park Place.
 
Residents and visitors of all ages are welcome to attend the inaugural event taking place tomorrow (Thursday, July 11) at 3 p.m. featuring a trio of Chinese artists performing sounds from the traditional Cantonese heritage.
 
Three other cultural music events will take place in Transit Square on select Thursdays throughout July and August. The full live entertainment lineup includes:
  • Thursday, July 11 – World of Chinese/Cantonese music (trio)
  • Thursday, July 25 – Celebrating the abundant energy of African music (trio)
  • Thursday, Aug.15 – Traditional and fusion Irish music (trio)
  • Thursday, Aug. 29 – Bringing Bulgarian music to Vaughan (trio)
 
The City’s first-ever Music in the Square summer lounge series is held in partnership with SmartCentres and Arcadia Live! Productions.
 
All events will take place, rain or shine, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Pickup and drop-off zones are available along New Park Place and Millway Avenue and validated parking is available through SmartCentres.
 
The City is proud to support artistic and cultural endeavours that add to the diversity, spirit and togetherness of the community. The Music in the Square series furthers the City’s commitment to creating active, safe and diverse communities as outlined in the 2018-2022 Term of Council Service Excellence Strategic Plan. Cultural events like these also help generate awareness and foster pride for the many different nationalities and heritages that make up Vaughan.
