With the temperature expected to hit 30 degrees Celsius and a humidex of 40 degrees Celsius over the weekend, the City of Vaughan is reminding residents that they can escape the heat by visiting local community centres.

Community centres offer air-conditioned public spaces, washrooms and change rooms, as well as water-bottle filling stations. Community centres will be open during regularly scheduled hours.

The City’s indoor and outdoor pools and splash pads are also open, and offer a great way to cool off in the heat. Vaughan has 17 outdoor splash pads throughout Maple, Thornhill and Woodbridge.

A list of community centres and their hours of operation can be found at vaughan.ca/recreation or by calling Access Vaughan at 905-832-2281.
