City of Vaughan
With an extreme heat warning in effect for Vaughan and the GTA, the City is reminding residents there are many places to cool off. Vaughan Animal Services is also advising residents to never leave a pet in a car or unattended outside on hot days.

There are many ways to stay cool –
  • Stay indoors in cool, well-ventilated areas
  • Wear loose-fitting, light-coloured clothing made of breathable fabric
  • If you do not have air conditioning in your home, go to places that do, including shopping malls, local libraries, public pools and community centres
  • When using fans, keep a window or door open to bring in cooler air from outside
The City’s 10 community centres offer air-conditioned public spaces, washrooms and change rooms, as well as water-bottle filling stations. They will be open during regularly scheduled hours. A full list of community centres and their hours of operation can be found at vaughan.ca.

The City’s indoor and outdoor pools and splash pads also offer a great way to stay cool in the heat. Vaughan has 17 outdoor splash pads throughout Maple, Thornhill and Woodbridge. They are open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Thornhill Outdoor Pool will be open until 10 p.m. through Friday, July 31.
