Festive fun for the family during the holidays
City of Vaughan facilities are operating
on alternate schedules
It’s time to celebrate the season and
spend some quality time with your loved ones. Vaughan offers many places for
the entire family to enjoy.
- Drop into a Vaughan community centre for recreational activities, such as swimming, bowling, basketball and shinny hockey.
- Experience the beauty of winter. Explore our Great Walks of Vaughan and discover local neighbourhoods, nature walks and trail sites.
- Explore the McMichael Canadian Art Collection to see extraordinary works of art.
- Visit the Experience York Region website for events taking place throughout the region.

facilities and services will operate on alternate schedules during the
holidays.
Vaughan City Hall and Joint Operations
Centre
- Facilities will be closed Monday, Dec. 24 through Tuesday, Jan. 1.
- Facilities will resume regular business hours on Wednesday, Jan. 2.
Vaughan Community Centres
- Visit the Holiday Central page on vaughan.ca/recreation or contact your local community centre for holiday activity schedules.
- All community centres will be closed on Tuesday, Dec. 25 and Tuesday, Jan. 1.
- Monday, Dec. 24 and Monday, Dec. 31
The following community centres are open with holiday hours in effect:
- Al Palladini Community Centre
- Father E. Bulfon Community Centre
- Garnet A. Williams Community Centre
- North Thornhill Community Centre
- Maple Community Centre
- Vellore Village Community Centre
- All other community centres are closed
- Wednesday, Dec. 26
The following community centres are open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.:

Vaughan Animal Services
- The shelter will be closed Sunday, Dec. 23, open Monday, Dec. 24 until noon and closed Tuesday, Dec. 25 and Wednesday, Dec. 26. Regular business hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. resume on Thursday, Dec. 27.
- The shelter will be closed Sunday, Dec. 30, open Monday, Dec. 31 until noon and closed Tuesday, Jan. 1.
Vaughan Public Libraries
- All libraries will be closed from Monday, Dec. 24 at noon (except Ansley Grove Library, which is closed that day) through to Wednesday, Dec. 26, with regular business hours on Thursday, Dec. 27 to Sunday, Dec. 30.
- All libraries will be closed from Monday, Dec. 31 at noon (except Ansley Grove Library, which is closed that day) through to Tuesday, Jan. 1 and will resume regular business hours on Wednesday, Jan. 2.
Waste collection
- For the weeks of Dec. 24 and Dec. 31, waste collection will be bumped to the next day due to the holidays. For example, if your collection day is on Tuesday, it will be moved to Wednesday for these two weeks. Friday collection days will be collected on Saturday.
- Christmas tree collection will occur the weeks of Jan. 7 and Jan. 14. Residents are reminded to put out their tree and garbage/recycling by 7 a.m. on their scheduled collection day.

Access Vaughan
- For information about holiday hours and City programs and services, please call Access Vaughan at 905-832-2281. Contact centre hours of operation during the festive closure are as follows:
- Monday, Dec. 24 and Monday, Dec. 31 - closed at noon
- Thursday, Dec. 27 and Friday, Dec. 28 - will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
- A live agent will respond to all calls regarding municipal emergencies during the festive closure.
