Curbside Giveaway Days on May 25 and 26!

Your ‘trash’ is another person’s treasure – at least, that’s the case during the City of Vaughan’s Curbside Giveaway Days! Do you have gently used clothing, sports equipment, books or kitchen gadgets you no longer want or need? Set them at the curb during Curbside Giveaway Days, which is kicking off this weekend!

Curbside Giveaway Days is a waste reduction program encouraging you to place gently used items at the curb of your property for your neighbours to come and take, free of charge. You can also visit other participating properties in your community to find new treasures for yourself! This is an excellent way to clear out your unwanted belongings while not contributing to garbage landfills.

The full schedule for the 2024 Curbside Giveaway Days is as follows:

  • Saturday, May 25 to Sunday, May 26
  • Saturday, June 22 to Sunday, June 23
  • Saturday, July 27 to Sunday, July 28
  • Saturday, Aug. 24 to Sunday, Aug. 25
  • Saturday, Sept. 28 to Sunday, Sept. 29
  • Saturday, Oct. 26 to Sunday, Oct. 27

How to participate

Participating in Curbside Giveaway Days is easy! Here’s how:

  • Place your materials curbside on the morning of designated Curbside Giveaway Days, beginning at 7 a.m.

    • Any items that are not claimed must be brought in by 5 p.m. on Sunday. Items left at the curb after that time could result in a by-law violation.

  • Download and print a “FREE” curbside giveaway poster (PDF) to place on your items.

  • Share pictures of your items using #VaughanCurbGiveaway on social media. We’ll reshare your post!
  • Keep items you do not want to give away close to your home or inside to avoid confusion.
  • Keep sidewalks and fire hydrants clear.
  • Only take items that are marked “free.”
  • Respect private property and do not walk on people’s lawns or gardens.
  • Obey traffic laws at all times – please do not block traffic or driveways.
