Have Your Say about Future Cycling Needs in Vaughan
The City of Vaughan is taking another important step toward becoming a more cycle-friendly community by exploring future cycling opportunities in the eastern part of the city, specifically north from Rutherford Road to Teston Road and west from Bathurst Street to just past Peter Rupert Avenue.
As part of the public consultation process, residents are encouraged to complete a brief online survey about their cycling needs and provide feedback on cycling opportunities on the City’s website at vaughan.ca/cycling no later than July 25. Residents who complete the survey will be eligible for a draw to win a $100 gift card. A public open house will be held later this year to present the findings of the survey and the proposed cycle network.
On June 25, the City approved the first dedicated bike lanes for Vaughan’s road network. The bike lanes will run along Napa Valley Avenue near Islington Avenue and Rutherford Road, and on Peter Rupert Avenue, Confederation Parkway, Staffern Drive and North Rivermede Road just west of Dufferin Street and Rutherford Road. Design and implementation of the lanes are scheduled for later this year.
