Help shape Vaughan’s newest district park
Get ready to run,
splash and play – a new district park is coming to Vaughan! The City is making
progress on the design and development of a new 7.7-hectare district park at
the northwest corner of Peter Rupert Avenue and Rutherford Road. You can have
your say and help shape this new park. Visit vaughan.ca/PeterRupertPark until Sunday, Aug. 15
to comment on conceptual park designs and more.
The proposed park will be a dynamic, welcoming and inspiring gathering place with a wide range of amenities for the entire community to enjoy. With zones for kids to play, event staging for concerts, connections to trails and greenspace, as well as relaxing seating areas, people of all ages and abilities will be able to use this new outdoor amenity space. This park will be built on approximately 28.5 hectares (70 acres) of greenspace that includes parkland, trails, stormwater ponds and the Cook Woodlot – allowing for beautiful nature views. This central location will also have direct connections to the Rutherford GO station and several nearby communities.
You can help inform the final design the park! Now until Sunday, Aug. 15, 2021, please visit vaughan.ca/PeterRupertPark to participate in the online self-guided Public Open House to:
- learn about and provide feedback on the proposed park concept plans.
- find out more about the design process and work completed to date.
- hear about the next steps of the project.
This new district park adds to the growing list of outdoor greenspaces the City has created and enhanced for citizens to safely enjoy. It also further aligns with Vaughan’s commitment to fostering active, safe and diverse communities that are environmentally sustainable and inclusive, as outlined in the 2018-2022 Term of Council Service Excellence Strategic Plan.
