Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua’s Annual Charity Golf Classic was an overwhelming success, raising thousands of dollars for not-for-profit and community organizations. More than 200 golfers participated in the annual event at the Copper Creek Golf Club in Vaughan.

“I am extremely happy and grateful for the support we have in this community for the many organizations that are providing essential services to so many people,” said Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua. “It is an incredible feeling to be the Mayor of a city where the spirit of generosity defines its very essence. I want to thank the chair of the organizing committee Brian Bentz, President and CEO of PowerStream Inc., as well as the City staff and volunteers who contributed to making this event such a success.”

The double shotgun tournament featured hole-in-one, closest to the pin and longest drive contests, as well as a silent auction. The event was highlighted by a Million Dollar shootout competition which gave eight players the opportunity to attempt a hole-in-one for a million dollars. Support was received from the local business community through corporate and media sponsorship, product donations and silent auction items.

“The popularity of the Mayor’s Golf Classic shows the commitment of our community in supporting the many worthy organizations that benefit from this event,” said City Manager Clayton Harris. “I want to congratulate City staff for their hard work in organizing this event and the donors and sponsors for making it possible.”
