The City of Vaughan welcomes Joseph Pittari, M.Sc., as its new Commissioner of Strategic and Corporate Services. Beginning in August, he will develop, organize, implement and manage a collaborative and service-focused Commission.

“It is my pleasure on behalf of the residents of our community to welcome Mr. Pittari to the City of Vaughan,” said Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua. “This appointment is another example of our commitment to providing service excellence to our citizens. We are proud of building a team of professionals who are dedicated to delivering high quality services while building a sustainable future for our great City.”

Most recently, Mr. Pittari was a Principal at DPRA, an international firm providing strategic planning and organizational management services to private sector and government organizations. Based in the Toronto area, he also served as the Chief Operating Officer for the company’s Canadian operations. Working with various Ontario municipalities, he has conducted program reviews, developed service delivery models, and produced sustainability plans, including the Community Sustainability and Environmental Plan for the City of Vaughan. He is a Certified Program Evaluator and a member of the Board of Directors for the Association of Strategic Planning.

The restructured Strategic and Corporate Services Commission includes the newly-established department of Innovation and Continuous Improvement, as well as Strategic Planning, Human Resources, Information & Technology Management, Environmental Sustainability, and Access Vaughan.

“The executive management skills Joseph Pittari brings to the City will be a valuable asset as the City continues to grow and evolve as a major urban municipality within the GTA,” said City Manager Clayton Harris. “His Commission will work closely with all departments across the City to provide support and to respond effectively to the challenges facing the municipal sector. ”
