Kids can spend P.A. Days with Vaughan
The City is offering camps and programming on Jan. 20 and
Feb. 3
The first two P.A. Days of the year fall on Friday, Jan. 20 and
Friday, Feb. 3. Have you made plans for your kids yet? If not, the City of
Vaughan has you covered! P.A. Day camps and programs are available at Al
Palladini, Chancellor, Maple, North Thornhill and Vellore Village community
centres for children ages four to 14 years. Pre-registration is required at vaughan.perfectmind.com.
P.A. Day programs and
camps include:
A lil’ art from the heart
(for ages six to 12 years old)
This Valentine’s Day,
your kids can surprise you with beautiful hand-painted pottery. Choose from two
swoon-worthy ‘ready to paint’ pottery pieces, paint your unique art and add a
dollop of love and adoration. Afterwards, we will glaze and fire your pottery
in a kiln.
Babysitting basics (for ages 11 to 14
years old)
Learn some must-have
babysitting skills before your first job, including: basic first aid, how to
respond to an emergency and deal with difficult behaviour in a positive way.
Build confidence, communication and leadership skills so you can be the best
babysitter!
Computer games and animation
programming (for
ages eight to 12 years old)
Design interactive games and animate characters using Scratch, the
kid-friendly coding language, featuring a drag-and-drop interface with
colourful, stackable blocks of code.
Conquer the court: squash
(for
ages nine to 13 years old)
Learn how to play squash from a pro – including game rules, tactics and practicing
stroke techniques through drills tailored to individual ability. Off the court,
challenge yourself to fitness activities, and get cross-training and nutrition
advice to strengthen your squash game.
Hands on robotics: beginner
workshop
(for ages six to nine years old)
Build several LEGO® robots
based on one of these themes: animals (creatures of all kinds) or
transportation (cars/vehicles). Grasp concepts on building structures, sensors,
gearing, and learn fun facts about the robots along the way.
Hands on robotics: sumo
ring battle
(for ages eight to 12 years old)
Ready to wrestle? Build
battle robots that utilize sensors and even flipping arms to throw down your
opponent’s robot in the Sumo Ring.
Let’s make toys workshop (for ages four to
seven years old)
Using simple materials,
innovation and your imagination, create one mechanical toy to take home, and
build and code a robotic toy. Learn about engineering, problem solving, energy
and motion while making your very own toys.
School’s out! (for ages seven to 12 years
old)
Enjoy a day of camp
activities, including games, sports, arts and crafts, outdoor play and special
events while making new friends!
Video game creation (for ages eight to 12
years old)
This intelligent screen
time workshop introduces your children to the basics of computer programming
and video game creation in a fun, simple, direct and intuitive manner. At the
end of the workshop, you will be sent the games.
March Break Camps
Looking for something
for your kids to do during March Break? The City is offering March Break Camps from Monday, March 13
to Friday, March 17 at select community centres and the Vaughan Studios &
Event Space.
Full-day camps for children aged four to 15 years old are available, and registration
is already underway at vaughan.perfectmind.com.
The camp day runs from 8:30
a.m.to 4:30 p.m. A supervised Before and After Care program is available at
most locations for campers who require care before the camp day begins, from
7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., and after the camp day has ended, from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Separate registration is required.
Programming varies by
