Learn about our proposed traffic plan for the Martin Grove Road area
Do you live in the Martin Grove Road area? If so, we invite you to learn about our plan for traffic operations in your neighbourhood.
In response to growing transportation demands and our ongoing commitment to monitor and address road safety and sustainable modes of travel, the City of Vaughan is undertaking multiple traffic studies through Corridor Reviews. A corridor refers to a linear road and its associated land uses.
The City recently completed a traffic study along Martin Grove Road, where we heard from you about traffic in the area. Now you’re invited to join us in person at an information session on Thursday, Jan. 16 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Father E. Bulfon Community Centre (8141 Martin Grove Rd.) to learn more about the feedback collected through the traffic study and our proposed plan.
Why did the City do a study in this area?
This area was selected based on community interests, such as monitoring traffic congestion, traffic circulation, truck traffic movements, operating speeds, pedestrian and cycling safety, and on-street curbside activity.
By assessing traffic operations in the area, we can identify ongoing opportunities to address road safety and continue to improve the overall transportation experience for all users – including those who walk, cycle, roll, take transit or drive on or around Martin Grove Road. In addition to examining vehicle speeds, traffic volumes, site conditions, existing traffic control and traffic calming measures, City staff worked with the community to collect feedback on existing conditions and propose recommendations.
This study will enable City staff to develop short- and long-term plans to continue to implement best practices in traffic operations identified along Martin Grove Road. Corridor Reviews are highlighted annually in the MoveSmart Mobility Management Strategy Progress Report which will be presented at a Committee of the Whole Working Session in Q1 2025.
