Mayor Bevilacqua marks Bell Let’s Talk Day

Today is a call to action to support neighbours in need

The following is a statement by Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua on Bell Let’s Talk Day:

“On behalf of the City of Vaughan and Members of Council, we join in marking Bell Let’s Talk Day, a national initiative to raise awareness about combating the stigma around mental health.

“Mental health is an important issue that affects everyone, in every community.  People of every age, gender or culture are impacted – it does not discriminate. As a community we must unite to send a clear message to people that they do not need to suffer in silence.

“As Mayor, I have seen first-hand the spirit of generosity that thrives throughout Vaughan’s communities. Every day, compassionate individuals, thoughtful volunteers and loving citizens reach out to their fellow neighbours who are facing mental health challenges and may require special care and support. We must remember that even simple acts of kindness can go a long way to make a meaningful difference to the life of someone in need.

“Let me thank Bell Canada for being unwavering in its determination to elevate the discussion on this important issue and its role in safeguarding the quality of life for people impacted by mental health. Today is a call to action that reminds, inspires and encourages all citizens to come together to do their part.”
