Mayor Bevilacqua reflects on successful Concerts in the Park series
Celebrating music, arts and culture in the
community
Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua issued the following statement in advance of the final event of the City of Vaughan’s 2019 Concerts in the Park series:
“Summer
is in full swing, offering all of us the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful
weather and make lasting memories with family, friends and loved ones.
“In
Vaughan, the sounds of summer would not be complete without the City’s
award-winning annual Concerts in the Park series. As part of Vaughan’s
commitment to creating active, safe and diverse communities, we are pleased to
present events like these year after year.
“This season
was extra special as we celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Concerts in the
Park series, which offers free, professional entertainment for residents and
visitors of all ages and abilities to enjoy. It is a community celebration of
music and talent. This evening, I encourage citizens and visitors to attend the
sixth and final concert of the season at York Hill District Park at 7:30 p.m.
“I want
to thank all of the talented performers for joining us this season and for
creating unforgettable experiences for those in attendance. We were pleased to welcome
Honeymoon Suite, Matt Cage — A tribute to Elvis, Neon Nostalgic — Retro Rock
Revue, Simply Queen — A tribute to Queen, Bennie and the Jets — A tribute to
Elton John, and tonight we will welcome Caverners — A tribute to The Beatles.
“Music
brings people together. It inspires nostalgia and allows us to reminisce. The
Concerts in the Park series provides a safe space for all citizens and visitors
to dance and sing along to their favourite songs, gather with family,
neighbours and friends, and enjoy summer evenings in the City’s parks. By
supporting and promoting community events, arts, culture and heritage, the City
of Vaughan continues to foster a welcoming municipality with a high quality of
life.
“Thank
you to everyone for coming out week after week to show your support. You each
play a part in the continued success of this wonderful initiative.”
