City’s Corporate and Strategic Communications department recognized for Service Excellence

The following statement was issued by Vaughan Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua after a special virtual presentation during the June 8 Committee of the Whole (2) meeting:

“I am pleased to announce the City of Vaughan’s Corporate and Strategic Communications department has received seven Hermes Creative Awards this year. Hermes Creative Awards is an international competition for creative professionals involved in the concept, writing and design of traditional and emerging media. Judges are industry professionals who look for companies and individuals whose talent exceeds a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry.

“The City won two Platinum awards – the highest honour presented for approximately 15 per cent of all entries, three Gold awards and two honourable mentions. Three of the seven awards were for cross-departmental projects that the Corporate and Strategic Communications department launched in collaboration with the Public Works team.

“These awards stand as a testament to all the hard work this team has done to deliver Service Excellence as we continue to respond to the global COVID-19 pandemic. The Corporate and Strategic Communications department keeps our community in the know through many mediums, including daily media products, proactive media outreach, eNewsletters, brochures, social media, website content, mailers, signage and much more. That is in addition to extensive internal communications efforts to ensure City staff are well informed. The team also works closely with all levels of government to respond to COVID-19 and assists in providing information on the different roles of municipal, regional, provincial and federal governments during an emergency.

“Communication has been key in the fight against COVID-19. Now more than ever, it is critical to provide updates on the evolving situation that are open, transparent and reflect the diversity of the residents we proudly serve.

“I want to extend my congratulations to our Corporate and Strategic Communications team for their dedicated efforts and strategic approach to communicating during this state of emergency and thank them for their unwavering commitment to provide Service Excellence to the people of Vaughan.”
