Mayor's Gala Proceeds Support Community Organizations

 

“There are many organizations in our community which do wonderful work in helping to support those in need,” said Mayor Bevilacqua. “The spirit of generosity is the defining characteristic of our community. People in Vaughan care about one another and understand that there are a number of social issues that need to be addressed. We will get  the subway, we will get a hospital, we will create jobs, but we will never move this city forward by leaving people behind.”

 

This year’s gala, marking Vaughan’s 20th anniversary as a city, was held at the Paramount Conference and Event Venue located at 222 Rowntree Dairy Road. Its theme “Our Journey – Our Future,” examined Vaughan’s history, its present and its future. The event’s presenting sponsor was the Carpenters’ Union and it was emceed by local celebrity Trish Stratus. It featured dinner, live entertainment and an auction.

 

“The Mayor’s Gala would have not been possible without the overwhelming support of our corporate citizens,” said City Manager Clayton Harris, Chair of the Gala Committee. “As well, I want to thank our guests, gala committee members, volunteers and donors.”
