VCHC Offers Diabetes Screening at Vaughan City Hall
On Tuesday June 28, the Vaughan Community Health Centre will provide diabetes screening at Vaughan City Hall from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. As part of the VCHC’s Diabetes Education Program, residents and City staff can receive free blood sugar testing. Registered dieticians and educators will be on hand to answer any questions about diabetes.
Diabetes Education Programs are part of the Ontario Diabetes Strategy, which was launched by the Ontario Government in 2009. The goal is to help people living with diabetes and to meet the needs of those who are at high risk of developing it. Risk factors include:
• Increased age; over 40
• Family member with diabetes
• Obesity
• High blood pressure or high cholesterol
• Family member with diabetes
