The City of Vaughan is made up of people from many different backgrounds. From entrepreneurs and philanthropists to business leaders and volunteers – they each bring something special and encompass the best of Canadian citizenship.

The Order of Vaughan, the highest civic honour bestowed by the City, was created to celebrate residents and the positive impact they have made on the community. It recognizes those who have been influential in city-building and contributed to Vaughan’s success.

The Order of Vaughan was established in 2016 during Vaughan’s 25th anniversary year to recognize outstanding achievement and dedication to the community. In tribute of the City’s milestone, 25 individuals were invested with the Order last year.

Nominations for the 2017 Order of Vaughan are being accepted until June 15 and will be assessed by the Order of Vaughan Selection Committee. To be eligible for consideration, a candidate must be a resident or former resident of the city.

QUOTE

“Every day I am inspired by the citizens of Vaughan who embody the very essence of our socially-responsible community. They have made a positive difference in the evolution of our city. Our vision for the future is becoming a reality because we are blessed to have residents who dedicate their time to giving back and contribute to our mission to move this city forward. I championed the creation of the Order of Vaughan because I believe that exemplary citizenship must be recognized in a meaningful way. Our willingness to embrace change has created an attitude focused on raising the bar and always aiming higher. This would not be possible without our single greatest asset – the people who contribute to our continued success.”
-Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua
