Celebrate the season with festive music, holiday cheer and a virtual countdown to light up the tree

Each December, the City of Vaughan invites the community to gather for the annual Christmas Tree Lighting outside City Hall. This year, due to COVID-19, this special event will take place online! Residents are encouraged to watch from the safety and comfort of home tonight starting at 7 p.m. at vaughan.ca/festive.

Celebrate the season with festive music, holiday cheer and a countdown to light up the tree. The family-friendly virtual celebration will include an official welcome from Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua and Members of Council, a performance from carolers and a greeting from Santa.

QUOTE

“Tonight, I invite citizens to come together in spirit to bring the City of Vaughan’s Christmas tree to life. This annual celebration offers an opportunity to experience togetherness virtually and ignites the spirit of generosity within us all. The holidays are a special time of the year, and, in Vaughan, the lighting of the tree is more than just a festive tradition. It serves as a symbol of the hope, love and light that radiates in our city. As the year comes to a close, let us reflect on our many blessings and take stock of how fortunate we are to call Vaughan home a place where compassion, commitment and diversity combine to provide a quality of life that is second to none. As we prepare to welcome 2021, I wish you joy, health and peace this holiday season. For our city, the best is yet to come!
- Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua
