One week left to donate to Vaughan’s 12th annual Toy Drive
Toys can be dropped off at community centres, Vaughan
Public Libraries branches and local fire stations
There is one week left to donate to the City of Vaughan’s 12th
annual Toy Drive in support of the CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish. This morning,
Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua appeared on CP24 Breakfast as their Donor
of the Day and encouraged everyone to help spread the gift of hope this
holiday season. During the interview, Mayor Bevilacqua announced a $15,000
donation from the Mayor’s Spirit of Generosity initiative in support of the
CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish.
New
unwrapped toys for children aged newborn to 18 years old can be dropped off
safely at any of the following Vaughan locations daily:
- All community centres, except Garnet A. Williams Community Centre, which is currently under renovation
- All Vaughan Public Libraries branches except Maple Library, which is currently under renovation
- All local fire stations
In
addition to in-person drop-offs, donations can also be made by mailing in a
gift card or cheque or donating toys online.
Residents
who wish to donate with a gift card or cheque (made payable to “CP24 CHUM Christmas
Wish”) can mail it to Vaughan City Hall c/o Events Division, Level 300, 2141
Major Mackenzie Dr., Vaughan, ON, L6A 1T1. Those who wish to donate a new
unwrapped toy online can do so by visiting VaughanToyDrive.ca.
Since
2010, the City has collected more than 120,000 toys and raised more than $105,000
in donations for the Toy Drive from the community and the Mayor’s Spirit of
Generosity. This program is one of the largest distributors of toys to those in
need in the Greater Toronto Area. It also supplies registered charitable
organizations, social service agencies, churches and community centres with new
unwrapped toys and financial donations.
QUOTE
“Today, I was pleased to join CP24 to remind
citizens there is just one week left to donate to the City of Vaughan’s 12th
annual Toy Drive in support of the CP24 CHUM Christmas Wish! It’s a meaningful
cause that is about more than just donating a toy – it’s about giving hope for
a brighter tomorrow. It brought me great joy to present a $15,000 cheque from
the Mayor’s Spirit of Generosity initiative to help give the gift of Christmas
to thousands of children and families this year. The spirit of generosity thrives
in our city thanks to our citizens who demonstrate an exceptional capacity to
care for others and understand the importance of giving back. I want to express
my warmest and sincerest gratitude and appreciation to our generous donors who
have stepped up in a big way and are making a positive impact. And to anyone
who is considering participating this year, I hope you will join this noble
mission. Together, we can ensure everyone has a happy holiday!”
