Every month, the City releases popular questions received and responded to by Access Vaughan in a series called ‘You Asked, We Answered.’ Below are the top five inquiries received in November.

1. How do I get a new Vaughan Fitness membership tag?

Vaughan Fitness members no longer need to pre-register to work out, and a new digital scan process for checking in is in effect. The new process requires a key tag, which members can get from customer service during their next workout. At that time, staff will verify your information, take a copy of your photo ID and ensure you have signed the fitness membership agreement. A key tag will provide members with quicker access to the fitness centre for future workouts.

After receiving your key tag, you will still need to show proof of vaccination and identification upon arrival at a community centre as part of the vaccination requirements for City programs and facilities. You can then simply proceed to customer service and scan your membership key tag for access to the fitness centre.

Pre-registration at vaughan.perfectmind.com is still required for fitness classes, as well as recreational swimming and aquafitness, skating and shinny hockey, and sports and games rooms.

2. Where do I get a #SlowDownVaughan lawn sign?

Pick up a #SlowDownVaughan lawn sign at any Vaughan Public Libraries branch and local community centre, excluding Garnet A. Williams Community Centre while it remains closed for renovations. These signs are part of the City’s new #SlowDownVaughan campaign, which encourages the community to reduce their speed and obey speed limits. You can also download print-at-home window signs or social media graphics at vaughan.ca/SlowDownVaughan. Signs are produced by the City and are free to Vaughan residents.

You are also encouraged to show support for safe driving by sharing pictures of your signs and using the hashtag #SlowDownVaughan on social media.

Visit vaughan.ca/SlowDownVaughan for more information on this initiative, including details on how to participate.

3. How do I exchange my broken City-issued blue box or green bin?

5. How do I sign up for a pre-authorized tax payment plan?

The City accepts property tax payments in many ways, including through a pre-authorized payment plan. The City offers the following two plan options:

Eleven instalments:

  • Payments are withdrawn automatically from a bank account on the first working day of each month from Jan. 1 to Nov. 1. Tax accounts must be at a zero balance to qualify for this program.
  • For those already enrolled the monthly plan, the 2022 interim bill will be sent in December 2021 that will outline the instalments from Jan 1 to July 1, 2022. The final bill will be sent in June 2022 that will outline the instalments from Aug. 1 to Nov. 1.
  • Those who wish to enrol in the monthly program had to have completed their application before Nov. 24 to be set up for the first automatic withdrawal on Jan. 1, 2022. The opportunity to enrol in the monthly plan will open again in March 2022.

Six instalments (interim and final billing due dates):

  • The instalment amounts for the interim and final billing are deducted from the bank account on each applicable due date, equaling six withdrawals total. Tax accounts must be at a zero balance to qualify for this program.

To apply for the pre-authorized payment plan, fill out the Pre-authorized Payment Application form (PDF), then mail it to 2141 Major Mackenzie Dr., Vaughan, ON, L6A 1T1 or fax to 905-832-8566 along with a “voided” cheque. For more details on tax payment options, visit vaughan.ca/PropertyTax.
