A full list of programming is available in the Summer Camps eBrochure available at vaughan.ca/camps. Online registration will be available at vaughan.perfectmind.com. In-person summer camps will run for one-week sessions starting the week of July 5 to the week of Aug. 30. The modified camp programs will follow the health and safety guidelines and procedures set out by the Province of Ontario and York Region Public Health. The City will continue to monitor the situation and make any necessary changes to the camps, including camper group sizes and masking regulations.

Examples of summer camps available include:

General recreation camps at community centres:
  • Summer Adventure Camp (for ages six to 12): outdoor activities, games, arts and crafts and special themes
  • Summer FUNtastic Camp for children with special needs (for ages seven and up): indoor and outdoor recreational activities focusing on social and life skills development and friendship
Specialty camps at heritage homes and green spaces (North Maple Regional Park, Maple Nature Reserve, Boyd Conservation Park):
  • Art Attack: paint, papier mache, clay, recycled art projects
  • Science Lab: science experiments and solving mysteries
  • Eco-Kids: composting, wildlife preservation, building an eco-shelter, hiking local trails plus arts and crafts, archery, special themes, games
  • Musical Theatre Camp (at City Playhouse Theatre): acting, choreography with character development with an end-of-session virtual showcase via Zoom
  • Special Needs Camps: Eco-Sense (environmental exploration and active games); Nature Pursuits (nature-based art)
There will be designated camper cohorts with small group ratios and all campers will practice physical distancing and will not interact with any other camp groups and will have a dedicated camp staff member. Enhanced cleaning and disinfecting protocols will be in place. Campers are required to wear masks while indoors and sign-in procedures include daily temperature checks. Sick children must stay home. Those who fail the screening and/or temperature check will not be admitted without a doctor’s note clearing them of COVID-19.

Virtual summer programs
To help keep everyone active, entertained and learning throughout the summer, Recreation Services is featuring the biggest lineup ever of virtual programs this summer. Kids can become a master in the kitchen, learn various life skills like babysitting and resume building, or take part in STEM programs and strategy games. Programs will be livestreamed via Zoom and run for 45 minutes to 1.5 hours.

Prepared supply kits are included in the cost and will be made available for curbside pick-up at a local community centre. Assistance from a parent or guardian may be required. For details, view the summer Recreation eGuide at vaughan.ca/recreation.
