Planning for future transit options in Woodbridge
The City of Vaughan is committed to keeping you moving – whether it be by foot, bike, car, bus or train! Staff are undertaking the Woodbridge GO Land Use Study to determine whether a GO train station can fit and function in the area south of Kipling Avenue and Meeting House Road.
What’s the purpose of the study? To assess the feasibility of a GO train station within the Woodbridge community in Ward 2, as part of the proposed Caledon-Vaughan GO Line. The area has been identified as a potential GO train station location in the Vaughan Official Plan 2010 and was previously identified in the 2010 York Region Official Plan. The study will also assess whether a GO station in this area represents good planning in advancing provincial, regional and City objectives.
Why is the City undertaking the study? In May 2023, Vaughan Council approved an Interim Control By-law within the vicinity of the Kipling Avenue Corridor Secondary Plan area. This temporarily pauses development within the study area so staff can undertake the Woodbridge GO Station Land Use Study. To learn more, read the May 9, 2023 Committee of the Whole (2) Report: Introducing an Interim Control By-law in the vicinity of Kipling Avenue and Woodbridge Centre.
Where is the study area? The study area is located within the Kipling Avenue Corridor Secondary Plan and consists of approximately 22 hectares (55 acres) of land along Kipling Avenue in Vaughan’s Ward 2. This includes the lands from the Woodbridge Fairgrounds to the east of Kipling Avenue, employment lands and vacant lands to the west of Kipling Avenue, and the rail corridor from north to south.
How can I have a say? Attend a virtual Open House on Thursday, April 4 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The project team will present an overview of the project, including its purpose, potential outcomes and key deliverables. You'll be able to provide feedback on potential station locations and amenities. Registration is not required. A link to join the meeting will be available online at vaughan.ca/WoodbridgeGO the day of the meeting.
What if I can’t attend the Open House? You can still get involved! Provide input by taking an online survey available from Thursday, April 4 to Thursday, April 18 at vaughan.ca/WoodbridgeGO.
What are the next steps? Through the study, a station location may be identified, public input will be collected, and if required, Official Plan land use designations will be reviewed and updated.
Study findings and public feedback will be incorporated into the final land use plan. The plan will be presented to Vaughan Council at an upcoming Statutory Public Meeting. All committee and council meetings are posted to vaughan.ca/CouncilMeetings.
