Oct. 10, 2013
Members of the community joined together on Wednesday, Oct. 9 to celebrate the official opening of Vaughan’s newest green space – Woodrose Park – with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and entertainment.
“As one of Canada’s fastest growing cities, we take pride in providing high-quality parks and recreational amenities that foster strong, vibrant communities,” said Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua. “Parks are critical elements that define Vaughan’s quality of life. Woodrose Park is another example of the City’s commitment to growing and maintaining these important green spaces.”
The City of Vaughan has more than 1,000 hectares of developed park and open space, and more than 200 playgrounds, water parks and sports fields. Woodrose Park is 2.6 hectares (6.3 acres).
Woodrose Park features accessible junior and senior playgrounds, a mini soccer field, semi-circular path, a shaded structure and seating areas.
“This wonderful park is an excellent addition to this growing area of Vaughan and a place I know residents of this community will come to appreciate for many years to come,” said Ward 4 Councillor Sandra Yeung Racco. “As a City, we understand the importance of providing opportunities for our residents to stay active and enjoy the outdoors. This new park contributes to that vitality and growth.”
Woodrose Park is at 189 Lady Fenyrose Ave., east of Dufferin Street and south of Teston Road.
