The City’s Black History Month events continue

Black Canadians and their communities have been vital in shaping Canada’s heritage and identity. Black History Month provides the City of Vaughan with an opportunity to reflect, learn and educate citizens on the experiences, contributions and achievements of Black Canadians and the many diverse Black communities.

Come and watch a special screening of Steadfast: The Messenger and the Message, an autobiography based on the life of the Honourable Jean Augustine at the City Playhouse Theatre (1000 New Westminster Dr.), tonight, Wednesday, Feb. 22, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. During the event, you will also hear from Mayor Steven Del Duca, the daughter of the Honourable Jean Augustine, Valerie Augustine and the film’s director, Fahim Hamid Ali. Following the screening, the Honourable Jean Augustine will provide a keynote address.

Tickets are free and can be reserved online. Space is limited. Refreshments will also be served.

Ms. Augustine has previously received the Key to the City, and the Jean Augustine Complex and Jean Augustine District Park were named in her honour.
