New storybooks introduced for this year’s reading and trail adventure

Step inside a storybook at select City of Vaughan trails! The popular StoryWalk program is back again this year, brought to life by Vaughan Public Libraries (VPL) and the City’s Public Works teams. This exciting initiative is a global program that promotes literacy, health and exercise in communities around the world.

As you walk along select City trails, discover large panels showcasing colourful pages of children’s books. With each step, the story unfolds one page at a time in this immersive and interactive experience. This is the perfect opportunity to get active outdoors with your little adventurers while learning something new!

StoryWalk is available along the following public trails:

Ward 1 – Mackenzie Glen District Park

  • Book: My City Speaks by Darren Lebeuf

Ward 2 – Nort Johnson District Park

  • Book: Pride Puppy by Robin Stevenson

Ward 3 – Lawford Park

  • Book: Mii maanda ezhi-gkendmaanh/This is How I Know by Brittany Luby

Ward 4 – Sugarbush Heritage Park

  • Book: I Hear You, Forest by Kallie George

Ward 5 – Marita Payne Park

  • Book: I Love You More by Emil Sher

All five books are written by a diverse range of Canadian authors, and VPL partnered with several Canadian publishers to bring the StoryWalk program back to Vaughan.

If visiting a trail in your area, use the hashtags #LoveVPL and #PlayVaughanLocal on social media and share pictures and videos of your outdoor fun with your community. Remember not to disturb or get close to wildlife.
