Two new places to play in Vaughan!
Join the City on May 16 for the opening of two new parks
Come on out and have some fun! The City of Vaughan is inviting the community to #PlayVaughanLocal at two new City parks: Summit Park and Maple Station Park. Opening celebrations are being held on Monday, May 16 – attend to get your play on!
Whether it be sliding, swinging, climbing or crawling, the new parks offer plenty of space to run around, play and have fun. Join Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua and Members of Council to officially open the new parks. Events will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, official remarks, an on-site interactive DJ and free ice cream. MAPLE STATION PARK
Location: 32 Salterton Cir.
Event time: 4:30 p.m.
New features: Play features include two separate playground areas that are accessible, swing sets and bike racks. Park furnishings, such as seating, benches, a shade structure and picnic tables. Accessibility improvements have also been made to the walkway.
SUMMIT PARK
Location: 209 Kleinburg Summit Way
Event time: 6 p.m.
New features: Play features include a playground area, soccer field and basketball court. Park furnishings, such as a gazebo, are available for leisure and new walkways have been installed for increased access and convenience.
In addition to these parks, a number of others have also been recently enhanced or constructed. These include, Carrying Place Common, Butterfly Heights Park, Boulevard Park, Glenngarry Square and Crimson Forest Common. This growing list of outdoor play spaces further align with Vaughan’s commitment to fostering active, safe and diverse communities that are environmentally sustainable and inclusive, a priority in the 2018-2022 Term of Council Service Excellence Strategic Plan.
