Vaughan businesses commit to a sustainable future
Better Your Business program supports four local organizations making a positive social and environmental impact
Through the City of Vaughan’s Better Your Business program, four local businesses have made their processes, practices and policies more socially and environmentally sustainable.
To celebrate their journeys, the following businesses were recognized during a ceremonial presentation at today’s Committee of the Whole (2) meeting:
- Clarico Place of York Region Inc.
- RideAlike Inc.
- Skillz Sports Lab Inc.
- The Aesthetics College of Canada Ltd.
Through the City’s 2024 Better Your Business program, these organizations received one-on-one consultations with Dr. Mark Terry, a professor at York University, who helped guide the development of each company’s new sustainable business model to incorporate the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals. These goals were adopted by the United Nations at the Paris climate summit in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure, by 2030, all people enjoy peace and prosperity.
The Better Your Business program is designed to increase awareness of the resources available to help Vaughan’s business community improve their processes, practices and policies.

QUOTES
“The City of Vaughan’s Better Your Business program is just one of the many ways we are helping to shape a greater and greener city for future generations. This program provides businesses with the tools and support needed to incorporate social and environmental sustainable practices that will not only improve their businesses but help protect our planet as well. Making sure local businesses and entrepreneurs have the tools they need to thrive is more important than ever with the threat of U.S. tariffs impacting our economy. I will continue to do everything I can to protect our businesses and set them up for success in the future. I want to congratulate Clarico Place of York Region Inc., RideAlike Inc., Skills Sports Lab Inc. and The Aesthetics College of Canada Ltd. for their commitment to making positive changes for their customers, their staff and their business, and thank Professor Mark Terry, PhD from York University for his continued guidance and inspiration to make a better tomorrow.”
- Mayor Steven Del Duca
