Vaughan Celebrates a Milestone 25th Anniversary WinterFest

Join the City of Vaughan as it celebrates the 25th anniversary of WinterFest on Sunday, Feb. 9. This year’s WinterFest takes place at the Vellore Village Community Centre from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with an official welcome by the Mayor and Members of Council at 11 a.m.
 
Presented by TD, and event sponsors CN, Direct Energy Home Services and Tim Hortons, WinterFest will feature free entertainment and activities, a Midway Zone, IceZone, lumberjack shows, horse drawn wagon rides, floor curling sessions, video gaming, a photo booth, face painting, art, opera and science workshops, and much more.
 
“For 25 years, WinterFest has been bringing our community together to celebrate the winter season,” said Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua. “At the City of Vaughan, we take pride in providing residents and visitors with events that serve to strengthen and enrich our civic life. Throughout the years, WinterFest has become an anticipated wintertime tradition that offers something for the entire family to enjoy. I want to congratulate all the volunteers and City staff whose hard work in organizing WinterFest continues to enrich our community spirit.”
 
WinterFest stage entertainment will include performances by Harry and His Bucket Full of Dinosaurs, Canadian pop star Tyler Shaw, Puppet Tamer Ventriloquist Tim Holland, Bounce Entertainment and the Singing Princesses. Carlos of YTV will emcee the 25th anniversary event. Exciting meet and greets will take place with Harry and His Bucket Full of Dinosaurs, Peppa Pig, The Octonauts, along with the fairy tale princesses, Star Wars characters and comic book heroes.
 
Anna Olson, celebrity chef and host of the Food Network Canada’s Bake with Anna Olson will be onsite for two baking demonstrations followed by an autograph signing at 2 p.m. Great food will also be available for purchase in the Food Zone.
 
Event visitors can win great prizes by participating in a live photo scavenger hunt called Find a clue, win a prize! To participate, follow WinterFest highlights on Instagram (@recandculturev) and look for clues posted on Instagram throughout the day.

Parking will not be available at the event site. Visitors may park at Vaughan City Hall, 2141 Major Mackenzie Dr. or Emily Carr Secondary School, 4901 Rutherford Rd. and take the free shuttle bus service provided by Can-Ar Coach, running continuously to and from the event site between 9:15 a.m. and 4:15 p.m.
