Vaughan Continues to Respond to Ice Storm

The City of Vaughan is continuing to clean up after this weekend’s ice storm.
About 2,000 households are still without power, primarily in Thornhill and northwest Vaughan.

City staff are going door to door in the area generally bounded by Steeles Avenue West, Bathurst Street, Yonge Street and Highway 407 to check in on residents and give them information on the City’s three warming centres:

• Dufferin Clark Community Centre, 1441 Clark Ave. W., Concord
• Maple Community Centre, 10190 Keele St., Maple (pets welcome)
• Vellore Village Community Centre, 1 Villa Royale Ave., Woodbridge

The City continues to receive many reports about downed trees and branches on public property. We are responding to these calls on a priority basis, focusing on the ones that pose hazards first. To report a downed tree, call 905-832-2281 (press 0 for dispatch).
Residents should expect delays in lower priority tree cleanup, including parks, woodlots, open spaces and non-hazardous residential and commercial areas.

All City facilities – including City Hall and community centres – are open today.

PowerStream anticipates all power will be restored by end of day today but there may be several pockets where additional work will be required. For updates, please call PowerStream at 1-877-777-3810.

The City thanks residents for their patience and co-operation as we clean up from this major ice storm.
