Vaughan Extends Condolences to the family of Cpl. Nathan Frank Cirillo

The City of Vaughan has issued the following statement.
 
Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua, on behalf of Members of Council, extends condolences to the family and friends of Canadian Forces Cpl. Nathan Frank Cirillo, who was killed in Ottawa on Wednesday, Oct. 22. Cpl. Cirillo was fatally shot while guarding the National War Memorial on Parliament Hill.
 
“I join with all Canadians across the country in tribute of this young man who was taken too soon in service to our country,” said Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua. “The City of Vaughan will lower flags to half-mast in honour of Cpl. Cirillo and his dedication to Canada, and protecting our way of life. His sacrifice is a reminder to all of us of what we owe to the men and women who serve this country on a daily basis to protect our rights and freedoms.”
 
Cpl. Cirillo served with the Regimental Foundation of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada (Princess Louise’s) in Hamilton. The Argylls are an infantry unit of the Canadian Forces primary reserves.
