Registration is underway for the City’s winter recreation programs and March Break camps

It’s almost time to ring in 2023. Why not start the new year by learning a new skill or trying something you have always wanted to do? Registration for the City of Vaughan’s winter recreation programs and March Break camps is now underway at vaughan.perfectmind.com.

RECREATION PROGRAMS
Programs are available for all ages, interests and abilities at community centres (except for Garnet A. Williams while it remains closed for renovations until spring 2023), the City Playhouse Theatre and the new Vaughan Studios & Event Space.

Program highlights:
  • Family (parent and child): bootcamp, badminton, painting, Zumba, baby yoga and singalongs, Valentine’s Day-themed workshops, snowshoeing
  • Preschool: arts and crafts, drama, ballet, gymnastics, karate, soccer, T-ball, STEM, Vaughan Playschool kindergarten readiness series (math, reading, writing, science, French and Italian)
  • Children: anime, cartooning, archery, cricket, squash, piano, dance, gymnastics, French, cooking/baking, taekwondo, Minecraft, volleyball
  • Youth: weight training, bootcamp, cooking, money management, painting, email etiquette, computer programming, plus a virtual volunteer leadership program that leads to recreation volunteer positions at community centres
  • Adult: ballroom dancing, group personal training, meal planning, painting and Vaughan Sports Volleyball League featuring an end-of-session tournament
  • Older adult: Chair fitness and yoga, line dancing, pickleball, arthritis and osteoporosis fitness, tai chi
  • Learn-to-skate lessons for all ages (indoor arenas and outdoor rinks)
  • City Playhouse Academy musical theatre classes featuring an end-of-session stage production
  • P.A. Day programs and March Break camps
  • Family Day crafting and fitness programs
  • Inclusion programs for individuals with disabilities: social and life skills, dance, gymnastics, sports, cooking, private music and education lessons, and a social club for adults with Down Syndrome
  • Cooking, nutrition, first aid, fitness, dance and educational classes at the new Vaughan Studios & Event Space

Looking for some fun in the water? Registration for winter swim lessons and aquatic leadership courses opens at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at vaughan.perfectmind.com.

WINTER AQUATIC LEADERSHIP PROGRAMS
Swim instructors and lifeguards are prestigious part-time jobs, and the City is always hiring. Training and certification in aquatic leadership courses – delivered by Vaughan’s aquatic leadership staff – will be available at select community centre pools this winter. WINTER SWIM LESSONS
Starting Saturday, Jan. 14, all learn-to-swim lessons will be offered at community centre pools. Schedules are available at vaughan.perfectmind.com. The online registration system is available 24/7 and features enhanced search filters, allowing you to sort by level, location, day and time. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6, at vaughan.perfectmind.com.
