Vaughan honours advocate for seniors’ well-being
Ward 5 Civic Hero Award
presented to Dominic Lee
The City of Vaughan is fortunate to be home to many residents that champion important causes. Dominic Lee is one individual who has taken it upon himself to better the lives of others, specifically seniors. In recognition of his contributions to the well-being of Vaughan’s older-adult population, Vaughan Council presented Mr. Lee with the Ward 5 Civic Hero Award yesterday.
Mr. Lee
recognizes the importance of good health during the golden years, and that is
why he has dedicated himself to the improvement of the physical and mental welfare
of elderly residents. His commitment to supporting seniors’ health was
recognized with an Order of Vaughan in November 2017.
Mr. Lee’s
most significant impact on the community is the First Chinese Senior
Association of Vaughan. He founded the organization in 2008 with the goal of
providing healthy activities to seniors of different cultures. Through a
variety of programs, such as line dancing, mahjong and a book club, members exercise
their bodies and minds while building friendships. Today, the club runs out of
the Dufferin Clark and Vellore Village community centres.
