Vaughan Launches Campaign to Reduce Litter at Community Mailboxes

Aug. 20, 2014

The City of Vaughan launched the Our Vaughan, Keep It Clean community mailbox anti-littering campaign this week in response to a growing trend of litter at community mailbox locations.

The Our Vaughan, Keep It Clean campaign encourages residents to recycle their unwanted mail at home using the residential blue box recycling program. City representatives will be canvassing various neighbourhoods to create awareness and provide information on the City’s waste collection and recycling program.

Under City of Vaughan by-law 3-2004, dumping waste on private or other property is prohibited. People who violate the by-law can be subject to provincial fines ranging from $255 to $5,000.

The City provides residents with a complete waste collection and recycling program. For more information, visit www.vaughan.ca/waste.
