Vaughan is ready for fall recreation fun!

Programming, swim lessons and aquatic leadership courses start Sept. 24

Days are getting shorter, kids are back to school – and there is still time to plan for a fun-filled, active fall! Registration continues for the City of Vaughan’s fall recreation programs, swim lessons and aquatic leadership courses on vaughan.perfectmind.com. The online registration system is available 24/7 and features enhanced search filters, allowing you to sort by level, location, day and time. Fall programming begins on Saturday, Sept. 24. Programs at Dufferin Clark, Rosemount and North Thornhill community centres will start the week of Oct. 3.

RECREATION PROGRAMS
Programs are available for all ages, interests and abilities at community centres (except for Garnet A. Williams while it remains closed for renovations until 2023), the City Playhouse Theatre and the new Vaughan Studios & Event Space. 

Program highlights:
  • NEW Vaughan Dance program for children, with specialties in ballet and hip hop, featuring a spring recital at City Playhouse Theatre
  • Vaughan Sports series for children with specialties in ball hockey, baseball, basketball, volleyball and soccer, featuring an end-of-session championship tournament
  • Vaughan Playschool kindergarten readiness series with specialties in math, reading, writing, science, French and Italian
  • Themed workshops to celebrate Thanksgiving, Halloween, Chanukah and Christmas, plus money management for children/youth and a ‘Girl Talk’ developmental lecture series for young girls and their parents
  • December Break Camps and P.A. Day programs
  • Family programs for new parents, including baby playdates, singalongs and post-natal group fitness
  • Martial arts, group fitness classes, sports and skating lessons for all ages 
  • Creative and performing arts for all ages, including the Vaughan Playhouse Academy musical theatre series 
  • Educational programs for people with special needs, featuring a new social club for young adults with Down syndrome 

The new Vaughan Studios & Event Space, a 19,000-square-foot recreation venue with a rooftop terrace located in the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre, the City’s emerging downtown core, will offer recreation programming for adults and young families starting this fall, including:

  • parent and child barre, yoga, dance, musical theatre classes and first aid workshops.
  • Disney-inspired fitness fun and ballet lessons for preschoolers.
  • cooking, baking and money management classes for children and youth.
  • adult barre and partner yoga classes, culinary lessons and nutrition workshops.

FALL AQUATIC LEADERSHIP PROGRAMS
Swim instructors and lifeguards are prestigious part-time jobs, and the City is always hiring. Training and certification in aquatic leadership courses – delivered by City aquatic leadership staff – will be available at select community centre pools this fall.
