Vaughan Receives Award for 2013 Business Mission to Israel

The City of Vaughan has earned an award of excellence from the Economic Development Council of Ontario (EDCO) for its business mission to Israel.
 
Vaughan Council was presented with the award on Feb. 18 by members of the City’s Economic Development department.
 
The award of excellence was in the category of excellence in collaboration and partnership, and strategic partnership with educational institutions. The City collaborated with Centennial College and York University on the 2013 business mission which resulted in a joint venture between the City and Centennial College to open a trade development office in Israel.

  • The Vaughan Business Mission to Israel resulted in 10 strategic partnerships, including with the government of Israel
  • Seven memorandums of understanding were signed by Centennial College during the business mission with learning institutions and organizations in Israel
  • EDCO is the country’s largest provincial economic development association and is comprised of more than 700 members from both private and public sectors who are actively engaged in the economic development profession in Ontario
