Vaughan Receives Perfect Drinking Water Inspection Results

The drinking water distribution systems for Vaughan and Kleinburg received perfect scores of 100 per cent after recent inspections by the Ministry of the Environment. The inspections confirm the quality of water meets or exceeds provincial standards, and the systems are being operated in compliance with all applicable legislation.

The inspections performed by the Ministry of the Environment assure our residents and businesses that the City of Vaughan is delivering water of the absolute highest quality to taps across the City,” said Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua. “Ongoing investment in water infrastructure, rigorous testing and a commitment to excellence are key factors in maintaining a healthy water supply.”

• Vaughan’s tap water is tested more than 1,800 times per year by the City’s Certified Water Operators.
• Bottled water is not regulated to the same standards as municipally supplied tap water.
• Tap water does not create an empty container that needs to be recycled.
• Bottled water can cost up to $4 a litre, making it up to 3,000 times more costly than tap water.
• Although recyclable, up to 40 per cent of single-use bottles end up in landfill due to inappropriate disposal.

“I would like to acknowledge our staff and the Certified Water Operators who are trained in all aspects of water quality management,” said City Manager Clayton Harris. “We are deeply committed to providing Vaughan’s residents and businesses with the safest, highest-quality drinking water.”
