Residents joined Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua and Members of Council in a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the official opening of Sylvan Brook Parkette.

“Green spaces are a vital component of the urban landscape, creating an environment which improves our quality of life,” said Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua. “Sylvan Brook Parkette provides our residents with the opportunity to participate in outdoor recreational activities which contributes to healthier lifestyles.”

Located at 2 Ravine Court, Sylvan Brook Parkette is .29 hectares in size and features a variety of new facilities: pedestrian asphalt walkway; armour stone retaining wall system; pedestrian pathway lighting and electrical services; renovated basketball half court; site furnishings and additional trees and shrubs. Existing amenities include a pedestrian bridge system and a junior and senior playground.

“Our parks are places where community bonds are formed through recreation and socialization,” said Ward 2 Councillor Tony Carella. “They are also part of our rich civic identity which helps attract new residents, businesses and investment.”
