Plan Your Summer: Reserve Your Child's Spot In Vaughan Summer Camps

Vaughan residents are encouraged to sign up now to reduce the chance of their preferred summer day camps being filled. Camps start July 4, 2011, following the Canada Day long weekend.

The City offers over 50 summer day camps for children and youth, ages three to 17, which include: preschool; outdoor adventure; recreational; sports; visual and performing arts; science and computer; specialty; leadership and special needs.
One and two-week sessions, extended day camp, bus travel, recreational swimming and day-trips are available for most camps. Camps are conveniently located at community centres, parks or schools across Vaughan. New camps this year include Art Zone, Sportz Stars, Super Sluggers and Trip Takers.

All camp staff are certified in Standard First Aid and CPR. They are trained in the High-Five Principles of Healthy Child Development, Non-Violent Crisis Prevention Intervention, and receive specialized pre-camp training. Many returning camp staff have years of experience as specialists, coaches, camp counsellors and directors. All staff are required to be 16 years of age or older and are subject to a police reference check.

Leisure Buddy volunteer opportunities are available to students 15 years or older looking to fulfill the high school requirement. Leisure Buddies provide one-on-one support to a child with a disability in a summer day camp setting. For more information on volunteer opportunities, contact Mihaela Neagoe, Active Living Coordinator, Special Needs & Volunteers at 905-832-2377 ext. 7405.
Refer to the 2011 Spring & Summer Recreation Guide for a complete list of summer day camps, swimming lessons and general programs. Program registration is ongoing.
